...We go!!! We went to see Dr. Dan last week.

Last Friday, we went to the dentist for the first time! I thought for for sure that there was no way under she sun that Jillian was going to voluntarily open her mouth for anyone especially the dentist!!

Boy, did she prove me wrong!!

WOW!!

Dr. Dan is the GREATEST dentist in the ENTIRE UNIVERSE!!!

Evan and Cindy, we can't thank you enough for recommending Dr. Dan!!!

He put us all at ease. We received new tooth brushes and presents too!! Jillian has no cavities and her teeth are straight!! No issues!

We go back to Dr. Dan in August.

Both John and I want to see Dr. Dan!!
He's the BEST!!

Oh the Drama!!

It was a Sunday.
The last Sunday in February to be exact.

Jillian and her Daddy went out for a walk to give Mommy a much needed break. Naturally, "Baby" went with them.

After I took care of a few things in the house, I decided to go out to join them on their walk and maybe take a few pictures outside. I put my coat on, grabbed the camera, and was just about to step outside when three miserable sad sacks came in the door - Jillian, John and "Baby".

Nobody was at all happy. I couldn't imagine what happened.

Apparently, my little trio visited one the the neighbors dogs - Bailey - as we often do when going for a walk.

John had picked Jillian and "Baby" up to give Bailey a friendly pat behind the ear when the TRAGEDY occurred.

Bailey kidnapped "Baby" and a meltdown of an 8.5 earthquake ensued!

As John puts it, Bailey's Mom had to intervene and rescue "Baby".

Poor "Baby" was just a little worse for the wear - not in too bad shape - very wet and just a little messy.  However, Jillian needed some big time "Mommy Tender Loving Care"!

With a flick of the wrist as well as 6 additional back up "Babies" ready particularly for these type of situations, "Baby" was a good as new!! All was well with the world!!

Fun with Play D0ugh!!

Also from a couple of weeks ago - same week as the ENT doctor.

On one of our shopping excursions, we purchased Play D0ugh in several different colors.  Additional colors at Debra's request I might add!! There goes that inner child again hard at work!!

Needless to say, we ALL were playing with Play D0ugh.

I must admit my inner child was at work too!!  We all had fun!!

Catching up is hard to do!

The more time goes by, the harder it is to keep track of all the events that have been taking place.

So, going back a couple of weeks ago. We followed up with the ear, nose and throat doctor. As we suspected, one of the tube implants fell out of Jillian's ear. Good news is no surgery required. The natural tube is still open as if the implant were still in place.

Another Plus - the doctor was very impressed with Jillian's speech since the implants were placed last May!!

What a relief!

And, boy oh boy, was there a LOT of wax in those ears!!  We could have made a candle!!

We're supposed to follow up now every four months to make sure we keep ahead of any issues that may arise.

Aunt Debra....

Jillian and her Aunt Debra
These two have a lot of fun together.

As some of you know, Debra has cerebral palsey and is deaf. The part of her brain that interprets the hearing is damaged so a hearing aid does not help.  She has one leg a little shorter that the other.  One of her feet is size 5 1/2 and the other is a size 8 - so she drags her feet when she walks and shoes are often very expensive.

When my Mom passed away, I essentially became a mother to my older sister.  Much of my time off is dedicated to taking her to the doctor, dentist and other various appointments.

I do my best to keep her healthy, happy and entertained.

Debra is smart as a whip, and Debra LOVES to go shopping - all kinds of shopping including:  food, clothes, cosmetics, crafts, dollar stores and malls.

Debra loves to eat, and absolutely loves Dunkin D0nuts coffee.  She loves all kinds of pens, pencils, and markers, and she also loves doing find-a-word puzzles.
So, Saturdays usually consist of marathon shopping excursions!!  We always manage to purchase a new pen or two, as well as, a new lip gloss, and naturally, when we're out a stop at Dunkin D0nuts is in order.

Miss Jillian thinks that she is in charge of Debra and often tries to boss Debra around, and Debra follows her command!  In the same token, Debra sometimes returns the favor and gets on the same level as Jillian.
I'll ask Debra:  "How old are you??" Jillian will then stick her two cents in a reply: "Two!!"
I sometimes have to intervene and separate the two of them, and remind Jillian to be more gentle with Debra.

When Jillian came into our lives, I think that Debra's inner child appeared, and why not, the kid is infectious!  She just makes you want to be a kid again.  Coloring is fun.  Finger painting is a blast.  Blowing bubbles is awesome.  Making a snowman is exciting.  Play d0ugh is neato!

And Debra is enjoying every second of it!
